The tiger is the third sign of the zodiac, and an earth sign. It is considered as brave, fighting and powerful but also cruel, vindictive and terrifying. The Tiger symbolises power and solitude. In the past, people often compared emperors and high dignitaries to this animal. Surrounded by plum blossom, a symbol much used in Chinese history and art, and lanterns, The Tiger is depicted in a childlike manner. The ideogram of the tiger appearson the left side of his representation. The yeardate and the inscription ‘Year of the Tiger’appear at the top of the coin.
On the reverse side, all the animals of the Chinese zodiac are drawn in achildlike way around the Ying and Yang symbol. From 2018 to 2029 there is acomplete cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
