2009 United Kingdom – £5 - Countdown to London Olympics

This very limited issue silver proof £5 coin was released by the Royal Mint in 2009 as the first coin in the Countdown series leading up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It commemorates “3 years to go” with a dynamic swimming design on the reverse incorporating the official London 2012 Olympic logo and the numeral “3”. The obverse features the classic portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.
