Issued to commemorate the centenary of Begum Akhtar (1914–1974), the legendary Indian classical singer renowned for her ghazals, thumris, and dadras. The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, with the denomination “₹5” and inscriptions “भारत INDIA” and “सत्यमेव जयते”.
