This commemorative coin features the Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata), locally known as the Teuila – Samoa’s national flower – in vivid colour. The obverse depicts Head of State Tui-Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi with the year 2013, while the reverse showcases the colour-printed Red Ginger bloom with the denomination “1 TALA” framed by tropical foliage. Struck in aluminium-zinc-bronze and presented in an official card holder, this is Samoa’s first ever colour-printed coin.
